4.1 What is a computer network?

A computer network is a network that connects all computers and digital devices to one main computer called a server, from which they can get resources. These are normally connected through a cable called a LAN or through a Wi-Fi connection called a WAN. These can be as localised as possible or, as big as Google.

 

4.2 Network fundamentals

There are two main network signals that are commonly used. The first is analogue and the second is digital signals. analogue signals are what are commonly used in radio stations, where they modulate frequency and amplitude to broadcast, while digital signals give out pulses in the language of binary.

 

4.3 The internet and the world wide web

The World Wide Web is a global WAN system that we use every day whether we think about it or not. Now, we often access it with our phones or handheld devices as well as computers.

 

4.4 Network applications

The networks allow people to discover new learnings every day and to operate new systems and functions that might allow them to improve their work quality.
