Week 3
Chapter 1: Introduction to Information Systems
1.1 Why should I study Information Systems?
People should be looking to study or at least have a basic understanding of information systems as they move into the workplace. They will likely have to interact with and use some form of system, I.e. emails, as they move forward in their career.
1.2 Overview of computer-based information systems.
A quick overview of some of the systems that are used are systems
like; High speed + volume computations, fast and accurate communication systems,
data mining facilities and data storage solutions.
1.3 How does IT impact organisations?
The introduction of IT to organisations and the impact that
it causes are numerous. What you will find is that there will be a major shift
in what jobs are available and what expertise is needed in them. As more
technology is introduced, what will happen is that the manager role will become
redundant and the role of looking after the software will become more necessary.
1.4 Why are
information systems important to society?
Information systems are becoming increasingly important as
we move towards a more and more robotic and automated world. Being able to
communicate in and through said world is becoming increasingly dependent on these
technologies.
I enjoyed how you broke up your summary into bite-sized sections like the chapter did. Your 1.1 and 1.3 sections are especially relevant in today's context with the importance of IT and it's current and future impact on us (the current generation) and manager jobs. Other than the summary being a bit short-worded your post on chapter 1 is good.
ReplyDeleteYour addition of the names of the subjects and the parts, as well as your summary of each, is one of my favourite things about this.
ReplyDeleteHey Liam, I absolutely love how you structured your blog. Your information is very concise and easy to understand, especially through your use of sub-headings.
ReplyDeleteEffective summary that addressed the main points of the lesson by addressing the content by chapter points. I enjoyed the conciseness of your summary that highlighted all the relevant information present in the lesson.
ReplyDeleteGreat summary introducing the content, and explaining the roles IT has in society and organisations.
